Mark Schneider

Mark Schneider is Distinguished Professor of Political Science (emeritus) from Stony Brook University. He served as Commissioner of Education Statistics from 2005 to 2008, after which he joined the American Institutes for Research (AIR) as vice president and institute fellow. During that time, Schneider created College Measures, which worked with many states to identify the labor market outcomes of postsecondary students, ranging from certificates through master's degree. In 2018, he was confirmed as director of the Institute of Education Sciences. His 6-year term ended in March of 2024. He is the author and editor of many university press books and has published widely in leading social science and public policy journals.
